Why start with Volume 1?
Volume 1 teaches students how to add and subtract single digit numbers in their mind. This is a skill that is often missing from other curricula, and it is generally what holds a student back from exceling in math. Once they learn how to add and subtract single digit numbers, they can take advantage of tricks like the 9's trick and the 11's trick (see below).
Have a young student? No problem, everyone goes at their own pace. Just give them several days or weeks to learn each lesson. There are supplemental worksheets on this website, if your student needs more practice.
OPTIONS:
- Our Big, Big Bookmark is an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet that contains hints to all the most easily forgotten math concepts from volumes 1 - 4. So, let's say you're in pre-algebra and you have to divide fractions, and you can't remember if that's when you flip the fraction or not. Just look down at your Big, Big Bookmark and see that you flip the second fraction and then multiply straight across. Available for purchase at the bottom of this page and in the Store.
- Our Book of Worksheets contains one copy of every worksheet from volume one and one copy of every (Volume 1) supplemental worksheet that you can download from our website. In addition, you'll get a third worksheet per lesson, review worksheets before the tests, and a few bonus worksheets and puzzles. This book is best suited for a young student. Older students typically don't need three worksheets per lesson. This is the only volume that has a separate book of extra worksheets.

Stand Alone or Supplemental?
This book teaches the foundation of math starting at 2 + 3. Students should already know how to count, read and write numbers, and have a basic understanding of 2 + 1 before starting. Topics such as telling time, the calendar, Roman numerals, and tally marks are considered math, but are not taught in the Learn Math Fast System. Most homeschoolers can teach those topics over time without a book. This book will teach anyone, at any age, how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with the greatest of ease - quickly!

I tutored my grandson over zoom. We began with the idea that I would drill him in multiplication and help him memorize his facts, a skill he failed in school. After one session, I realized he could do little more than add 2+1--At. Age. Nine! We went back to the beginning with LMFS. In only a few weeks, he was proficient in addition and subtraction. I wondered what they had been doing with him in school to allow him to fall so far behind. After a few months, he mastered the basic operations. Sadly, he fizzled out of our tutoring sessions once he caught up to grade level. However, I'm so grateful for this easy-to-use method. With varying levels of success, I've taught math to children of high to low learning abilities with many different systems: MathUSee, Saxon, RightStart, Video Text, Life of Fred, Understanding Mathematics From Counting to Calculus, and several others. Like AlphaPhonics, Learn Math Fast System isn't full of bells, whistles, and distracting graphics, but it beats them all.
