So far the books are just what my grandson needed. He is behind three grades because we live in idiot California and have been shut out of school for two and half years in what is called special needs classes on line. In short time with grandma and with the help of these books he has learned the time tables and adding and subtraction, money and how to tell time. All things he should have learned in school. We start a new year this week with home school and I am buying the test of the series of Learn Math Fast.

These books have been a lifeline for me teaching my kids math. We have completed volume 1 & 2 and I am planning to purchase the rest of the series because it was so helpful, straightforward, and easy to use.

I’m using Learn Math Fast volumes 1 & 2 for tutoring older students who need help with basic procedures and fractions. The explanations are clear and the concepts are organized in a sequential and logical way. I’m really happy with this program!

I used these resources to tutor with great success. I remember learning some of these math strategies in early elementary school but not all. Even this veteran teacher learned as much from V 1&2, maybe as much as my struggling tutees. How fortunate we are that the author figured out a way to present these strategies in an easily understandable way. As much as I love Saxon, LMF is a much friendlier resource, especially for self-teaching youngsters. If children can read, they can teach themselves anything, including math. To provide an amazing head start or remedial boost, teach your tutees AlphaPhonics at the same time.

I bought this curriculum to work through with my 7th grader. He’s a hard worker but has had difficulty retaining math. We have gone through Vol 1 in about a month and are starting Vol2. I like the layout and the explanation of the subject matter. This is a bare bones curriculum which has allowed us to see what we needed to stop and learn. It’s not spiral- so we do keep a notebook and review. Looking forward to seeing how the fraction lessons go in vol2.

We are using Volume 1 right now. The lessons are self-paced and written in a way that is easy for my children to understand. They can move through things they know/understand quickly, while taking more time with concepts they are not familiar with. Volume 2 appears to be written well also, but we are not using it just yet.

*My children are 12+, though I think younger children would understand it also. IMO, this would not be a complete curriculum for young students, but is a great tool for learning gaps/missed concepts.*
