Volume 2

Volume 2 Overview

Included:
163-page paperback book with 24 lessons, 24 worksheets, three chapter tests and one final test
Answer Key in the back of the book with full solutions.

Topics covered are typically taught in 4th, 5th and 6th grade, but we don't mention grade level in the books.
Upon purchase, you will receive a password to access a page on our website that contains printable pdf versions of every worksheet in the book.

An older student can complete this book in about one month.
Younger students will take two to six months to complete.
The older you are the faster you'll learn!

Should I start with Volume 2?
If your student can already add, subtract, multiply and divide REALLY WELL, even with a decimal point, then you can skip book one and start with volume two.  On the other hand, if your student can solve this problem, you may not need volume 2:
"Negative five and seven sixteenths divided by two and five eighths"

Their answer should be reduced down to "Negative two and one fourteenth."

HOW CAN SOMEONE LEARN MATH THIS FAST?
Here is an example.  I can teach a musician to convert a fraction into a decimal number in their mind, in about five minutes by watching the video below.

OPTIONS:

Our Big, Big Bookmark is an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet that contains hints to all the most easily forgotten math concepts from volumes 1 - 4.  So, let's say you're in prealgebra and you have to divide fractions, but you can't remember if that's when you flip the fraction or not.  Just look down at your Big, Big Bookmark for a quick reminder. Available for purchase at the bottom of this page and in the Store.

Sample Pages of Volume 2:

Stand Alone or Supplemental?
Volume 2 teaches fractions, decimals, percentages, and negative numbers, which are the essence of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math. However, geometric concepts from these grade levels are taught in volume 4, so students should read volumes 1 - 4 to get a stand-alone curriculum that will prepare them for volume 5, our algebra 1 course.
Scope and Sequence:
Upon completion of this volume, students will be able to define, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
Money, among other things, is used as an example.
Students will solve equations using mixed numbers, which includes finding common denominators, converting mixed numbers into improper fractions, and reducing fractions.
Students will be able to mentally solve for 10%, 20%, or 50% of any number.
They will know the calculations necessary to find any percentage of any number.
Students will understand the relationship between fractions, decimal numbers and percentages.
The ability to identify equivalent fractions.  The skills to determine which of two fractions is the largest.
Students will use the Least Common Multiple and Greatest Common Factor to reduce fractions and cross-cancel.
Skills needed to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with negative numbers are taught.

A TESTIMONIAL FROM JAMIE

I found Learn Math Fast through a series of other homeschooling moms after testing my middle school students and finding that their Charter school had failed to teach them math successfully. So far, they have completed one book and have moved into their second (so now level 2) with in only 4 weeks of receiving the materials. They have a much greater understanding of the process and have much higher confidence in themselves and their mathematical abilities. It has been a game changer, and I highly recommend it.
In fact, once we started this process, I had my HS student go back through a few sections to refresh himself on areas in which he was struggling. He was able to move back into his current math level quickly and far more successfully than before using Learn Math Fast.  ~Jamie J.
